Boat Insurance Policies

Boats and personal watercraft are a fun investment that need specific protection. Millstone Insurance can help you choose the boat coverage that helps to protect you, your loved ones, your boat, and other watercraft equipment.

Boat Insurance Coverages:

Navigational Area – This will tell you where you are covered in the water. Some insurance companies even offer coverage a certain amount of miles away from the United States coastline and other areas.

Agreed Value Coverage – Just like cars, boats and other watercraft depreciate over time. Agreed Value Coverage is where you and the insurance company agree upon the value of the vehicle or watercraft when you take out the policy and it covers that value instead of the value at the time of the loss.

Liability – Personal liability insurance covers other boats and boaters in the event that an accident on water is your fault. It helps to pay for repairs or replacements of the property damaged, as well as medical care, lost wages, and other costs related to the accident.

Medical Payments – This helps cover medical expenses in the case of an accident where you and/or other passengers on your watercraft become injured. This would even cover water skiers/tubers, regardless of who is at-fault.

Physical Damage Coverage – This insurance covers the cost to repair or replace your watercraft, its motor, anything permanently attached to the watercraft, and your trailer in the case of it being stolen or damaged.

Uninsured/Underinsured Watercraft Bodily Injury – Boat insurance is not always mandatory, which means that there are boaters out there who are not insured. If you have an accident with someone that is uninsured or underinsured and you are injured, this type of coverage helps with medical expenses, lost wages, and other costs related to the accident.

Fuel Spill Liability and Wreckage Removal – In the event that your boat be seriously damaged or sink, there is a chance that it could leak fuel or oil into the water. By law, it is the boat owner’s responsibility to have it cleaned up, which can be expensive and time consuming.

Personal Effects – This coverage can be included to cover personal items such as clothing, cell phones, sporting or recreational equipment. There are different requirements for different locations, and we can help you check what is available to you.

Unattached Equipment Coverage – For any equipment that is not permanently attached, this type of coverage would help with the cost to repair or replace it. This would include things like: life jackets, water skis, anchors, ropes, fire extinguishers, etc.

Emergency Assistance – This is similar to roadside assistance and would help cover things like towing, delivery of gas, or a loaned battery if needed.
